Volunteer Opportunities

CAS volunteers are special people who contribute their time, energy, and skills to the children and families CAS serves.

They are men and women, young and old, single and partnered, students, working people, and retirees. They also come from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, and religious groups.

What Do Volunteers Do?

CAS tries to fit volunteer assignments to the skills, interests, and available time of each volunteer with a wide range of services.


Volunteer Positions Available At CAS:

Friendly Visitors

  • Spend individual time with a child or family to share mutual interests and provide companionship

Homework Helpers

  • Help children with difficulties in various subjects in a homework club setting or in a one- to- one setting

Drivers

  • Provide transportation for children to and from various appointments, family visits, day care, school and other outings and events
  • Also ensure that the child reaches their scheduled appointment on time and is left in the care of a responsible adult at the appointment location (drivers are reimbursed for mileage)

Clerical/Research Assistants

  • Assist with a broad range of clerical tasks or perform research for a child protection team

Childcare Assistants

  • Help with childcare while parents participate in group meetings, and special projects

Special Projects Assistants

  • Help with the Holiday Campaign, the 24 Hour Relay and other special events

Family Visiting Program Assistants

  • Help monitor visits with families and children
