We are seeking an individual or couple to become foster parents who will live full-time in a home provided by the Children’s Aid Society of London & Middlesex (CASLM).
This is a family-based environment for up to two youth with additional staffing support provided based on youth needs. CASLM will cover home expenses and provide competitive tax-free financial compensation.
As youth placed in our parent-model homes require an increased level of structure and support, we require one stay-at-home parent. Given the nature of the program, and space limitations, we are unable to accommodate additional children or pets in the home. We encourage applicants from equity seeking groups to apply.
Qualities Needed:
Experience working with children/youth who display challenging behaviours is an asset. We are looking for someone who will:
- maintain a loving and supportive household
- teach and role model life skills and assist with daily living activities
- provide leadership and supervise youth to ensure a safe, clean and comfortable home environment
- support youths’ identities and cultures (ie: youth who identify with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, First Nations Inuit & Metis communities, Black and other racialized communities)
- liaise with community partners and those invested in the children’s lives
- administer and monitor medications and attend appointments as required
- attend training and professional development as required
- follow policies and procedures and direction provided
- maintain a clean and organized home providing nutritious meals and a warm, welcoming environment

Supports Provided:
- Daily tax-free compensation at a competitive and guaranteed monthly rate
- Up to 48 hours per month of relief
- Up to 14 days per year of vacation time
- Home expenses covered by CASLM (groceries, utilities, household supplies, etc.)
- In-home staffing support provided based on the youth’s needs
- Behaviour Consultation to assist with the development of individualized behaviour support plans
- Recreational expenses for youth covered by CASLM
- Pre-service training provided
- Regular training opportunities provided
- Foster parent mentor provided for support
- Care Provider Advocate as needed
- Access to Employee Assistance Program
Applicant requirements:
SAFE homestudy & PRIDE training is required to be completed by successful applicants.
- be Canadian citizen(s) or permanent residents
- have a valid driver’s license and vehicle
- be skilled at working as part of a team along with community resources such as schools, therapists, health care providers and law enforcement
- complete a Police Record Check
- complete a Child Welfare Check
- provide personal references
- complete a medical reference
- participate in, and complete pre-service training

Contract length:
One-year commitment, to be reviewed at that time.
