Gifts in Kind

What does CASLM accept as gifts in kind?
Donations of gift cards as well as all new items including footwear, clothing, backpacks, school supplies and hygiene products are donated to children, youth and families throughout the year.

In instances where donated items do not meet our criteria, they will be donated to other agencies in the local community as per our Gift Acceptance Policy (2019).

Why does CASLM accept new items only?
We accept new items only for hygiene reasons. This helps us ensure that we are providing all recipients with new, clean items at point of distribution. Items purchased recently, tags on are preferred.

Can a tax receipt be issued for a gift in kind donation?
Yes, an official tax receipt can be issued when an original retail receipt is submitted indicating the pre-taxed amount.

Do quilts and knit/crocheted garments and blankets count as new items?
Yes, if they have not been used and are made of new materials. Items must come from a smoke free environment. Please remove buttons on hand-made items.

Where can donations be dropped off?
