The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex (CASLM) is pleased to announce Mr. Chris Tremeer as its new Executive Director. Chris Tremeer brings with him a strong background in promoting equity and inclusion as an active member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and also a long-time contributor to numerous committees and Boards in Ontario. He will commence his role on December 5, 2022, succeeding Chris Steven who is retiring after leading the agency for six years.
Chris Tremeer brings extensive experience and leadership to CASLM, including more than 15 years in operation and delivery of social services covering Funding and Finance, Service Planning and Evaluation, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Labour Relations and Human Resources, Performance Indicators, Government Relations/Lobbying, and Information Technology. Chris has experience with both child welfare policy and direct service delivery, having worked at the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies as Director of Child Welfare Operations Excellence for seven years, and as Director of Corporate Services at Family and Children’s Service of Guelph and Wellington County for 10 years. He comes to CASLM from his most recent position at Youthdale Treatment Centre as Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Services.
Chris Tremeer is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with an Honours degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has various continued leadership education and training most notably through the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, and York University Schulich School of Business.
“We are extremely excited to have Chris join CASLM as its new leader. Chris brings a wealth of experience from the child welfare sector and lived experience that will enable him to continue fulfilling the Board’s strategic plan – ensuring all children and youth grow and thrive in their families, cultures, and communities,” said Mitch McGrath, CASLM Board Chair.
Chris is committed to Truth and Reconciliation, and working respectfully with the local First Nations and urban Indigenous communities. He was immersed in the proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” from the early days of his career in Guelph-Wellington supporting both local service delivery and the agency’s work with Tikinagan Child and Family Services. Chris believes, “The Children’s Aid Society is one member of our ‘village’ alongside our families and their support networks, and our community service partners. Together we create a positive environment for the children and youth of London and Middlesex to grow and thrive in their families and communities.”
Growing up outside of Beaverton, Ontario, Chris has enjoyed living in rural environments as well as large cities throughout his career. He and his family enjoy spending time outdoors with their dogs and are looking forward to exploring London and area’s network of parks, trails and countryside.
The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex welcomes Chris Tremeer’s leadership, advocacy and commitments to equitable and inclusive services and supports for children, youth and families in our London and Middlesex community.
